Day 2

Well, first of all, let me say I'm still sick. Ugh. I finally succumbed and took my cheritussin cough syrup last night - cough syrup with codeine! It didn't seem to do much. I mean, I wasn't any more tired! But boy, did I have a hard time waking up!
When I went to bed last night, I had little pangs of pain - in my hips, abs, etc. - but normal, post-workout pains. The kind you expect the NEXT day.

I got up this morning and had the most healthy breakfast I could imagine (insert sarcasm here): I ate a donut. I know, bad!
Followed by lots of water.
After a little time of vegging out on the couch, watching old episodes of a fave show (y'know, Central Perk, Dr Drake Ramoray, DOOL, "Your her lobster," and other fun memories), I put in the mat work DVD first.
I did the first third of it with no problems, no slowing down... mostly shoulder work and ab work. OW. then we came to hips. My kips cramp up any way, with know known cause (other than I've been lazy). And there are these moves where your lunging on one side for about 60 or so repetitions... my left knee started to ache. I was thrilled when we switched to the other side - I wanted to give my left hip the same work out - but my right ankle started to hurt pretty quick in. Lame.
Finished the mat work. I already had sweat dripping. Mind you, my house is set at 58 degrees Fahrenheit, so it's not that warm in here.
I blew my nose (hey, I'm sick. I already told you that), drank some water (not too much), and put in the cardio DVD. Not 4 minutes in to it, I needed a break.
About 7 minutes in to it, you're doing these leg kicks.. at fist just straight up.. Right, right, right, right; left, left, left, left.. then it switches to Right up, cross left down (does this make sense? like you're doing some fancy leg crossing in the air while hopping on the same foot)... right leg up across left, and then straight down - now left leg up and over right, while hopping on right leg...
It reminded me of when I was little.  I used to love doing leg kicks. Rockette style, good old how-you-think-a-cheerleader-kicks (right knee up, left leg up! whee!) abck-in-the-80's-and-you-were-a- kid, all of them.
One day I wore a little denim mini skirt. I was in my dining room, and did one of those "cheerleader" kicks. Before I knew it, the force of my kick (leg up!) and the lack of stretch in my denim had me flat on my back. I had learned that the momentum I had gained exceeded the stretch of my denim and it just lifted me off my feet.

That's how I felt doing these leg-over kicks. Like, all of a sudden, I was going to land on my ass.
so I took a break and rested... drank a little water... and continued on.

and then... 1 minutes in, I hurt myself. Standing still. Seriously?
Left groin muscle said, "F! you! lady!!"
So I continued any way, but instead of hopping, I was just tapping alternative feet.  I picked it up at squatting, and then I felt better. maybe I just needed to stretch.

The first 15 minutes of the video took me 30 minutes. I'm not kidding. Lame. My respirations were around 32, so being that I coughed all day yesterday and didn't want that to return a few hours before I went to work, I slowed it down. I was still sweating like mad, don't get me wrong.
However, as I continued, my left groin kept tweaking when I hopped on it. so I stopped. Didn't finish.

Tomorrow is another day.

PS Dogs did not interfere at all. They napped. :D
